A quick thought, before it’s gone.
Was thinking about this phrase today:
Beats me!
Why the hell do we say that?
I don’t know, beats me!
When we refer to beating,
We mean hurting one another.
So what are we saying?
I don’t know, beats me!
Are we saying some thoughts hurt to think?
I don’t know, beats me!
There are a lot of times I think that.
Beats me!
For starters…

Why are battered & broken women airbrushed to seem exotic?
I don’t know, beats me!
Just one example that beats me.
Seriously, why do we say that phrase?
Beats me!?
It’s the verbal equivalent of a forfeit, isn’t it?
Is the phrase “Beats Me” a declaration of
our refusal to face our painful realities?
This idea that ideas can “beat me…”
Whether that means these ideas can beat me COMPETITIVELY…
Or whether that means these ideas can HURT ME to think…
How funny… how strange… how intriguing…
It beats me
To think anything
Can really beat me.
It b-eats me.
Interesting :] I think
